🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Over Size Updates Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size. The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Backlash Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services. They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Changes Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Accounts A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained. Necessary Adjustments A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
