One extended cruise around Australia is being halted days after the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was left behind by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The liner left without her and returned several hours later after the ship staff became aware the passenger was not present.

An extensive search operation located her remains the subsequent day.
